Lipoprotein (a) Test
Lipoprotein (a) Test measures the amount of Lipoprotein (a) in your blood.
Lipoprotein is a particle that carries protein, fats, and cholesterol in your body. When found in high quantities can indicate a risk of heart disease or ischemic stroke.
Since Lipoprotein (a) levels are a genetic condition if someone has high levels then all members of the family should get tested. Interestingly, diet or exercise has little or no impact on the lipoprotein (a) levels of your body.
Preparation: Fasting for 9 – 12 hours is required for this test.
