Mumps Virus Antibody Test (IgG)

This test measures Mumps IgG blood antibody levels.

For most individuals, Mumps symptoms are similar to the flu: headache, muscle aches, fever, it is very contagious and spreads by contact with someone who is infected.

Unless Mumps infection is present positive Mumps results mean that one is immune to Mumps.

Mumps testing is usually ordered together with the measles and rubella tests (together known as the MMR test).

Preparation: Fasting is not necessary for this test.
