Vitamin D, 1, 25-Dihydroxy Test

This test is frequently used to measure Vitamin D levels in the blood, vitamin D is produced in the liver and kidneys.

The vitamin D test is recommended for people suspecting of having a condition caused by excess of vitamin D, such as Sarcoidosis ( a systemic inflammatory disease that affects multiple organs in the body), certain types of Lymphoma. The test helps diagnose parathyroid disorders, hypocalcemia ( lower than normal calcium level in the blood) or kidney failure.

Preparation: No fasting is required for this test.
