Vitamin E Test (Tocopherol)
Vitamin E test measures the amount of this vitamin in the body.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect cells and tissue in the body.
Low levels of vitamin E can cause nerve problems and anemia. High levels of vitamin E can cause increased bleeding.
One likely cause of vitamin E deficiency is intestinal malabsorption.
Preparation: An 8 – 12 hour fast is recommended before testing.
